Bamboo Design Series Part 1 Recap
On Saturday, we successfully kicked off the Bamboo Design Series—a focused, half-day session designed to introduce architects, interior designers, engineers, and students to the potential of bamboo in contemporary design and construction.
The event provided a valuable platform to:
✔️ Explore the relevance of bamboo in sustainable and circular design
✔️ Review both global and Ugandan examples of bamboo application
✔️ Highlight ongoing innovations by Bamboo Uganda and Studio Akeka
✔️ Engage in a hands-on session with bamboo materials
✔️ Share how professionals and students can join and collaborate with Bamboo Uganda

The conversations and practical learning reinforced the growing interest in bamboo as a viable, scalable, and climate-friendly material for Uganda’s built environment.

Next in the series: Bamboo in Construction – a deeper dive into structural applications, materials science, and emerging techniques in green building.
We thank all participants for your engagement and contributions, and we look forward to welcoming you again in the next sessions.
