Great Steps Towards Bamboo Industrialization

Indeed, you cannot build an industry in silos or as individuals. You need community, collaboration, and a shared vision. This Saturday, together with our members (Amabanda Uganda Limited, Bijimu Bamboo Farming Services, Studio Akeka) we took a significant step towards building a thriving bamboo industry in Uganda. We organised the first-ever bamboo cluster training, bringing together all players in the value chain – from farming to processing, furniture-making, construction, and policy.

This inaugural training marked the beginning of a journey to build a robust and sustainable bamboo industry. Our vision is to empower every stakeholder, from farmers to manufacturers, policymakers to artisans, to be part of this movement. We believe that by working together, we can unlock the vast potential of bamboo and drive economic growth, job creation, and environmental sustainability.

The training featured insightful sessions from our team, including Derrick Mugabi on bamboo policy, Sjaak de Bloois on the Bamboo value chains and vision of Bamboo Uganda, Collin Muhumuza on bamboo processing, and Lukas J. den Admirant and Nansereko Brenda on bamboo farming. Their expertise and passion highlighted the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in driving industry growth.

As we move forward, we plan to separate the cluster trainings into specific areas, including farming, processing, furniture-making, construction, and policy. Our goal is to build a strong, inclusive, and sustainable bamboo industry that benefits not just Bamboo Uganda but the entire country and to have more members join us.

Let’s build this industry together! Let’s evolve everyone, and let’s make a change. #BambooUganda #BambooIndustry #Sustainability #CommunityBuilding #EconomicGrowth”
