How much “waste” does a bamboo plantation produce, and what can it be used for?
How many acres of bamboo are currently growing in Uganda, and in what condition?

To make Uganda’s bamboo industry more attractive for investors, Bamboo Uganda is working to answer these major questions. For bamboo farmers, selling plantation “waste” can cover a large portion of the maintenance costs. Unfortunately, many plantations are currently not maintained properly because these costs are not met, resulting in significantly lower yields of bamboo poles. Yet well-maintained plantations produce more, longer, and stronger bamboo poles. This opens the door for construction projects, where we currently struggle to source the right quality bamboo.

So right now, we are focusing on two key actions:
1. Mapping Uganda’s bamboo resources; gaining insight into how much bamboo is available across the country.
2. Improving plantation management; maintaining plantations and offering maintenance trainings to farmers.

The goal: higher yields, more bamboo supply, and a more investable bamboo industry in Uganda. Join Bamboo Uganda to access bamboo data, learn about opportunities in bamboo farming, processing, architecture, and more. Join now: https://lnkd.in/dPGMKgKT
